My kids are great! Yesterday it rained all day. So when my 5 yr old daughter asked me to go splash in the puddles before dinner I said sure. She was wearing her rain boots. My 3 yr old son was bare boot. So my husband and I are talking while I am cooking dinner he turns and looks out of the window and yell get in the house. I look at him very confused because we had given them permission. Well what I didn't know was they thought to save me time doing laundry by running around naked. So we get them in the house and my loving husband keeps a striaght face and tells them that it is not ok to run around naked. I am trying not to laugh in the kitchen so they can hear me. I finally get my composer and by this time they are redressed in there muddy cloths. I asked them what they where thinking they said they didn't want to get there cloths dirty for you mommy. I tell them not to do it again and they can go play outside again this time stay dressed. They book it outside before we can change our minds and we both loose it. So yes my kids are great. We live in the middle of town I just wonder what the neighbors thought. (I hope they got a laugh too) Only my kids.
New to shooting so am I. Love this country and It's constitution so do I. Pro-second amendment yep that's me. I love a great many other things such as cooking, reading, raising a family. Please feel free to enjoy my many loves with me. I always welcome feedback.

Have to laugh at yourself
You know you spend time at the range when you open your email and get a Target add and think wow I can get new targets and realize its the store. I know I am silly but I catch myself and laugh every time.
An unexpected rant
Before you read this know I try very hard not go get baited like this. I do really value the other side opinion and I feel they have the same rights as I do to say and think and feel how ever they want regardless of how I feel or agree with it or not.
No ones real names are used in the rant.

So I liked this picture on facebook yesterday and didn't think anymore of it till I was baited. I knew I was baited into an argument once I read the post.
She said: And some citizens supported by my
tax dollars need to learn to talk respectfully
about theri commander in chief!
I lost It. I knew I would so I walked away
from the computer. Well the more I think
about it the more I am disgusted.
My reply to this is:
So answer me this Are you tax dollars more important than
the sacrifices men and women who serve in the military.
They die, they leave there families for months ,years on
end. But your money is more important than there life? What
of there 1st amendment rights? You have yours but since
you pay them to defend your freedoms they shouldn't have
them? How is that American? How is that right? They respect
the office not the man! The Man changes the office doesn't.
She replied with: Hey, I respect soldiers and the sacrifices
they make very strongly! I just would like to see a lttle
respect for our president! You don't have to agree, you can
still be respectful. I bet your husband is respectful to his
leaders whether he likes them or not!
I replied: He is but I am very offended by your statement
that because you pay tax's you have the right to tell them
what to do.
Respect is earned never given. Like I said they can respect
the office, and not the man. By your logic since I pay tax
dollars I can
tell people on welfare, and disability how to raise there kids,
what they can think, what they can say, and where they can
spend my money?
The fed Gov't already does that.
Now all of this being said at this point a couple of my friends
came on and posted somethings
one was : OBAMA SUCKS!!!!!! I just exercised my freedom of speech and I don't mind my
tax dollars supporting our military.....I prefer that over my tax dollars supporting that
LOOSER in the white house! Just sayin...you GO GIRL!
2nd friend replied : You are pathetic (name) You, and your like, are why we are in the
straights we are in. You do not have any respect for what our Constitution is, yo used
position and power as all that is deserving. You are Lenin's usfule idiot!
She responded: glad to see you mature people exercising your feedom of speech! be
offended (my name) ! It seems you are to anything you disagree with! sorry for you!
I responded: I am not offended with people using there 1st amendment right just as I am
not offended when someone used the 2nd, 3rd,4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th. No matter
what they are our rights as American citizens. Now I will not always agree with what people
say or how they say it but. That is my right to not agree or agree. Just as it is your right.
That is the great thing about this country is that we have rights. Each one of us use these
right as we see fit. I stand against anyone who tries to take aways my rights or the rights of
my children.
Another thing to remember once you start chipping away at rights for one group when do
you stop chipping away at all groups till there are no rights left?
Now what offends me is the blatant disregards for our Constitution. The rights, and why we
have this document. My tax dollars that pay for abortions offends me to no great end. I do
not believe killing unborn children is a right. It is murder. I ddon't believe in giving anything
away for free (like cell Phones). If you don't work for it then it will mean nothing to you.
That offends me greatly. Obama using children as political tools offends me. Don't tell me
you are going to take away my guns for the children and have your children have armed
guards. (I think his children should be protected by armed guards btw) But so should mine.
I am my kids protections. Don't tell me as a parent my kids are not mine they are the
communities that offends me. A great many things offend me but using your rights is not
one of them.

Lets see if Senator Burr replys
I would like to know why you voted to advance the gun legislation? It is my belief that it against the U.S. Constitution. Where do you draw the line. I would hope you do not have any intentions to take away my right or the rights of future generations to protect themselves. I hope to hear from you soon.

Perfect example for what to do with the left over buttermilk.
Butter Milk Pie
In previous post I explained how to make butter so I thought I would post a nice treat that use what is left over.
It is so simple kids and make it with adult help.
All measurements are estimates I am horrible about measuring.
About 1-1/2 cups butter milk (you can use store bought)
1-1 1/4 cups of baking mix (homemade or store bought)
1 1/2 cups sugar
a splash of vanilla extract about 1 tsp
1/3 melted butter cooled (homemade or store bought)
3 eggs
Grease a 9inch pie pan or casserole dish. Preheat over to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together with hand mixer for about a min. It will be runny. Pour into greased pan and bake for about 45 min. Test center if tooth pick comes out clean it is done.
Very simple to make and had a wonderful flavor. I have made it with store bought and homemade ingredient and I love it both ways.
I made this last night and by the time I thought to take pictures of it. It was gone.
I hope you and enjoy it as much as my family does.
More Parents need to speak up
The comments made by Mellisa Harris Perry are outrageous. My children are my responsibility nobody else. This country is based on freedoms and rights. Why is the media and Federal Government slowly trying to take away our rights. I am shocked and appalled that more people are not upset by this. No one else is going to love my children the way I do. They are not going to support and raise my kids. Nor do I want them to.
Once she was called out on this statement she came back and doubled down on this misconceived notion. How can this be a sane idea. No one but parents can take joy and pride in our kids achievements and sorrow and anguish when out kids have disappointments,
I love my kids and will love and support my children till my dieing breath. In society once you become too much to handle or an adult society doesn't care anymore. But I as a mother will always care.
How can it be that parents across this country not see how dangerous this idea can become. More parents no matter what your political affiliation should be screaming against this idea. I for one will not stay silent and let them take my rights as a parent away.

Wake up and pay attention
Why our elected officials not calling out and demanding answers and reform from our President who is trampling on our Constitution. Why is it hard to understand that the Constitution gives us our right as citizens it is not a tool for the government to take away rights. There are checks and balances for a reason. One person can not decide the fate of the whole country. Why are we letting one person make all the decisions for us. The blatant disregard for the laws of this nation is appalling and shameful. This country is being ripped apart from the inside out and it is scary. Why would anyone that loves this country want to do that. The problems we see to day are not for a select few but for every American and all the future generations to come. Think of your children.
More then once since the Mass shooting in CO. I have had disturbing conversations with grown adults saying "we should ban assault riffles", then in a another conversation tell me they don't follow politics." So let me get the straight you want to ban something that someone else told you was bad. Once you ban one thing where does it stop is what I want to know? What's next well a doughnut will make you fat so we will ban them as well? Oh wait the mayor of NYC has tried that with soda.
Why would you not pay attention to politics they pay attention to you. You wouldn't put your life in the hands of a surgeon without checking out his credentials. Hell you wouldn't let a stranger watch your baby, but who makes the laws for said individuals and future generations. Not paying attention is exactly what the government wants. That is how they get away with what ever they want. People are starting to wake up and I hope they start to become active speak out on what ever issues. But to remain silent should be a crime.

I love my recoil therapy
So I have to say that I love my #4 Mk1* enfield. She is so much fun to shoot. I feel engaged when firing here. Then she kicks like a mule and I like it. My type 53 is also fun she kicks like a mule as well and is loud. A lot of fun to shoot and again I feel connected to the shot I take.
I recently bought a ruger 10/22 she fires just fine and Is really easy to shoot, but I do not feel as connected to the shot. There is no kick which is good for my shoulder. I am sure I will come to love my .22 as much as my bolt action once I get to know her. I wonder if anyone else has this problem with switching from bolt to semi-automatic?

MMMMM...Butter
I have found that making your own butter is very easy and satisfying. My kids love to help so it is a great project for the whole family.
I have found thus far that heavy whipping cream from the store works just fine. Setting the cream out to come to room temperature is the best and fastest way for it to turn from cream then to whipping cream than to butter.
There are many tools you can use.
Old fashioned churn
Hand mixer
Stand mixer
Electric or manual food processor
I have heard of using a blender but I have not tried it. To name a few
Now that your cream is to room temperature if using a stand mixer pour it into the bowl and turn it on at least medium and let it go you can walk at this point I wouldn't go very far tho. It can turn very fast. Once it gets to whipped cream (like what you buy in the store) it usually does not take much longer. At this point I turn my mixer on high and it will start to turn a yellow color and butter milk will start to form and if not careful it will splash. Once it starts to look like the size of peas . Stop and let it sit to let the butter milk separate. 5-15 minutes later. Drain off the butter milk to use for cooking. I get a large measuring cup or bowl and fill it up with ice water to wash the butter. By washing the butter you it will get the stuff out that spoils the butter. Pour a little ice water in the butter and turn mixer on. After a minute or so pour it out and continue until water comes out clear. At this point you can put the butter into containers to use or freeze. Make sure you squeeze the butter to get as much water out as you can. My kids love to do this and it makes my hands feel wonderful.
To freeze it you can put frezzer paper or wax paper in the mold 1st and press the butter into it and wrap and frezze.
To thaw let it sit on counter for about 15 min and unwrap that will keep the paper from sticking to it.

| Dazey Butter Churn I Started out with my lovely churn that I found at a local antique shop. Did the Job nicely but she is old and the gears where starting to skip. |
|
|
| Wonderful Kitchen Aid Mixer My wonderful husband bought me this for Valentines day. Major brownie points by the way. It works better then I ever expected for making butter. |
|
|
| Glass jar for Butter Milk. Butter milk is great for using in baking and cooking. |
| Start to form Butter |
| Yummy Butter Milk |
| Nice Size container |
| Ready to store and eat |
I started to do this because I wanted to see if I could. I love knowing I can control what is in it. I do not add salt but I do add garlic or different herbs to add more flavor. I hope you try it and enjoy.

Read the News and Your BP will spike
So once again I am reading the news and Get so mad I have to walk away from the computer. This happens a lot and thank goodness I do not life in NYC. Mayor Bloomberg is at it again. He does not even try to hide the fact that he think it's OK to infringe your rights. I don't know how in the world anyone can vote for that man much less keep him in power. I don't know about you but I am not going to let someone micromanage my life. I will not let anyone treat me like a child just because they think they know best. To have someone like that in power is shameful. He wants to spend money to run ads on gun control out side of his area of power? Why not try just doing his job not meddling in affairs above his pay grade. More people need to read the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
Please Remember the Families of these Brave men
I would like to take a moment to remember the fallen Marines and families of the tragic training accident at Hawthorne Army Depot, Nevada. My heart and prayers go out the families of the fallen Marines.

Not what my momma thought when she raised me
Well my newest love is shooting.
Thanks to my dear husband and father-in-law.
This past summer they took me out shooting and bang I loved it.
Lets go back a few years ago uhmmm to when I was a child. When I was about 8 or so I asked my father if I could go out hunting with him.
Well the answer was no. Girls didn't hunt. My husband would do that. Well I lived under that illision and didn't think about it until I met my wonderful sister-in-law.
She can hunt and from what I hear from my husband she is a better shot then both of her brothers.
Now saying this I still have not gone out hunting. I like to shoot targets. (everyone starts some where)
Now I started with an M1 Garand and it was love at first shot. After that day I didn't really think about owning my own gun, why no why would I do something like that. (ingrained muscle memory from childhood)
Well my husband looked at me in the fall and said lets go see what is out there that you like. Well we went to one of the major 5. I went up there and said I have no clue what I like but I know what I don't like I want peep-sights, wood stock, and I don't want it feel like Matel made it.
Well the nice man said ok well how about this youth model .22 since you have small arms and your a girl, and this man had the nerve to hand it to my husband to look at 1st. Well needless to say I have a wondeful husband and he did not take it from him he looked at the man and said it's for her not me.
So I picked it up and held it put it up to my shoulder and said no this is too light. It is not a wooden stock and has open sights. So that right there told me he wasn't listening.
Well we go through this little dance for a while and I can not find one thing that I like. As a joke the nice man says well I have this Ruger Scout .308 and he rolls his eyes. Well I pick it up and I am in love. Its not to light has a bolt action and has a nice stock. His mouth hangs open.
So now I know what I like but well this is right before the Holidays and I have two kids with Christmas and b-days with in 3 weeks, so the price was just not right.
But I walk out knowing a little bit more about what I like.
So fast forward to after the holidays and I have gone two a couple more gun shops to see if they had anything better I like. There are a few I like as much as the 1st one. So I wait, we finally get the money together and wouldn't you know it the gun rush happened and they didn't have anymore, were not sure when or if they were going to get anymore in stock. I was near to tears. But my husband, being a loving man that he is, said "We will find you something you like." So off we went to our local gun shop and they have a section of military suplus rifles and well I fell deeply in love with my #4Mk1* Enfield in .303 British. I could not help it. I picked it and that was it.
Now little did I know that my husband though alright I have always wanted one. So we buy it and get a free day at the range. He is still thinking she will fire it once and then she will give it to me. Well did I prove him wrong. I still loved it. He was wise enough not to say anything to me until we left the range.
So after we leave the range we go by my parents house so I can show off my new rifle. I am proud as can be. My father picks up and looks at it and says what are you going to hunt with it. I said anyting I want I guess. But mostly targets. My mom picks it up and says it look pretty. (btw it is) But I can tell they are dumbfounded as to why I would want to shoot.
My mother told me she is proud and happy I have found something I like to do, but she simply doesn't understand it.
She always thought when she had two girls "she would have a debutante not a Annie Oakly" her words not mine. I laughed and said why I love to shoot and still be a lady.
